Promises For You Coloring Devotional- Book Review

The Faithgirlz Promises For You Devotional Coloring book is a very sweet, hard backed book. Perfect for a gift or to read and color along with your daughter like I am doing! We really enjoy the scripture at the beginning of each devotional and the little thought that goes along with it and the line drawings are fun and whimsical. I give this 5 stars!

The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill- Book Review

The Inkeeper of Ivy Hill by Julie Klassen is a very engaging book from the start. The story is well written and moves along nicely which I appreciate. The very beginning has a map of Ivy Hill which I always enjoy as it helps with the place reference as you read through the story. I enjoy the Regency flavor and writing and give it a solid 4 stars.

Thanks For Being You

Hello! Today and I have a card that is great for pretty much any occassion...or none at all :) Sometimes the best mail or gift is just because. I pulled out the Big Thanks set for this card.
I die cut a scalloped circle and stamped the sentiment and one the pretty leaf vine from the set onto yellow cardstock. For the "for being you" part of the sentiment I gently curved it on my block and stamped. I love that clear stamps can do this!
Using the scallop die I lightly traced the inside of the circle part with a pencil so I would know where to position the next round of stamping.  I wanted it to feel very full so I chose green ink and the little leaf vine again.
Here it is all stamped. Since the sentiment focal circle is going on top I didn't even bother to erase the pencil. To complete it I added the little flower from the set in light pink.

And here is my completed card. I added some sequins from the Valentine's Day sequins and a couple rows of stitching.
This card is very spring like and I am ready for spring! Thanks for joining me today and have a great creative day!

Happiness

Hi! Today I have a pretty card to share using some Art Neko images.

I used the gorgeous image called Framed Tulip and used Tombow markers to color it. I just love spring and flowers anytime of the year. I just love this sentiment too! It can be found here

I used some jute twine and a pretty little white paper rose from the B.Muse store which can be found here. Some machine stitching finished it off. I hope you have a great day!

Zip It! - Book Review

The book Zip It, the keep it shut 40-day challenge by Karen Ehman is a great daily devotional to help get your words and thoughts better under control. I really like that this book is on the more practical side of how to actually practice the habit of speaking thoughtful words. Forty day is a good stretch of time to really keep this in the front of your mind and the way the book progresses is really good. I like that the daily readings aren't super long so I can fit them into my busy schedule. I give this book 5 stars and recommend it!

A Spectacle of Glory -Book Review

A Spectacle of Glory is a year long devotional by Joni Eareckson Tada. It's a small book which is nice because it's easy to carry with you and keep close. It has a ribbon book mark which I always appreciate. The devotions are one page each with a scripture reference at the top and a little story or explanation of the scripture and then closes with a prayer for the day. I like the briefness and the thoughts are encouraging and I like having a scripture reference to start with as you can always read more. This book would make a lovely gift, but I think I'll be keeping my copy. I give this book a full 5 stars.

Sentiment Only

Hi!  I thought it would be fun to show you how you can use just a sentiment stamp set for a beautiful card. I'll be using the new Blessed set from Inspired By Stamping.
To create a pretty card using just sentiments and no focal image I decided to heat emboss a couple of the combinations of sentiments and then use Distress Ink as the color pop.
Here is what it looked like part way through my stamping. Since I chose to use a cream colored cardstock I had to sprinkle the embossing powder as I went so I could see what I was doing. At this point I needed to heat set it so I could fill in the rest of the background.
Once all my embossing was done I used two colors of Distress ink to really pop that white embossing.
I embellished it with some of the Valentine's Day ribbon and a white paper rose. Some machine stitching finished it off.

I hope you enjoyed today's card!
Have a beautiful day!

The Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb- Book Review

I have another book review to share today. This book is called The Way of the Dragon or the Way of the Lamb. It's written by two authors who share personal experiences in the struggle for power. I think overall this book takes an honest look at the struggle each of us faces in living this life, either by our own strength and slapping the word God on it, or being truly submitted to God and letting our pride die. A struggle for sure, especially in the church where so many are run as a business endeavor and not as extensions of Christ. I give this book a solid 4 stars.
